Nigerian rapper Kashmoney The Force and Thaa Realist join forces to drop a new collaborative project ‘Judas’. We catch up with him to find out more about the Global influence of African music, future plans, and their brand new album.
How did the collaboration between Kashmoney The Force and Thaa Realist take place? How did you both meet?
Well, I have known Thaa Realest since 2015 cus we are from the same hood. After I returned to Nigeria from China and officially started my career, a few months later, I noticed a post from someone on Facebook about him and I was wowed to know that he is still doing rap music. So I chatted him up, and the next day he came to my crib and we started vibing. From a track we decided to make an album cus the vibe was too lit. That’s how the Collaboration occurred.
Tell us about the music scene in Nigeria?
Music in Nigeria is at its peak with the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Rema internationally putting afro music and Nigeria on the world map.
Do you find that a lot of the Global African Diaspora are now embracing artists from their home countries more?
Of course, the Globe is recognising and appreciating home countries music.
Tell us about your new album ‘Judas’?
Well, Judas’ album is about life experiences from day to day. Betrayal, backstabbing and lessons with motivational, inspiring and educational contents.
The album focuses on friendships and betrayal, what lessons do you want listeners to take away from it?
I want them to learn that not all friends are actually friends and not everyone that smiles and dines with you actually wants to see you succeed or do better than them.
Learn how to keep their circle small and stay focused on the grind cus TIME IS MONEY.
There are a lot of lessons to learn from the album depending on their understanding.
Are there any tracks on the album that are personal favorites?
My favorite tracks are; Time na money, Fake friends, Togetherness and Who dey Check but TIME NA MONEY is my most favorite.
Do you have more projects planned as a duo?
Not yet, maybe in the future as the spirit leads but I have my personal album coming soon, 80% done.
